The Forgotten Saga is an upcoming downloadable free update for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla that will release in Summer 2022. Unlike past expansions, it will be in a rogue-lite format, where player characters must explore the world through individual "dungeons" and face the risk of permanent death fighting enemies that become increasingly difficult the further they progress. Story-wise, the update will continue Odin's story by loosely adapting another part of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, following the Norse god into Niflheim to confront Hel and demand Baldr be revived after his death in the expansion Dawn of Ragnarök.

Synopsis

The Forgotten Saga is also set to continue its adventure into Norse mythology, giving players the chance to delve into Niflheim in a rogue-lite inspired free game mode that continues Odin's journey.[1]
