The False Leonidas (died 420s BCE) was an elderly mercenary who operated druing the Peloponnesian War.
Bearing a close resemblance to the late King Leonidas I of Sparta, the mercenary claimed to be the king resurrected, though his claim was not well-believed. The few who did, gave him contracts and confirmed their beliefs when he succeeded in completing the contracts.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, he was hunted by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who herself is a granddaughter of Leonidas.[1]
