Temple (Isu)

The Temples are locations throughout the world built by Those Who Came Before, in order to prevent the repeat of the catastrophe that had ensured their extinction.

History

According to Minerva in Assassin's Creed II, the Temples were built by the members of her race "who knew to turn away from war" – presumably meaning those who did not fight or did not want to fight in the war between the humans and Those Who Came Before. The reason for the building of these temples was an unknown catastrophe that significantly damaged the Earth and killed off most of both species. Minerva tasked Desmond Miles (speaking to him through his ancestor, Ezio Auditore) with locating the Temples in modern times and averting another cataclysm.

At the end of the events in The Da Vinci Disappearance the coordinates 43 39 19 N 75 27 42 W are presented to Leonardo and Ezio in the final chamber of the Temple of Pythagoras.

Outside of the Animus, William M. and another, unidentified person can be heard discussing the coordinates:

William M: "You can sedate Desmond now, we have the information we needed."

Unnamed Man: "It's too late, the damage is done. He seems to have entered into a coma."

William M: "He'll find his way out. He always has in the past."

Unnamed Man: "I've run the data through the computer. We have a location for the temple."

William M: "Then what are you waiting for? Let's go."
