Sophokles (c. 497/496 BCE – c. 406/405 BCE), also spelt Sophocles, was an ancient Greek tragedian who lived during the 5th century BCE.
At some point between 431 and 429 BCE he made the acquaintance of the Spartan misthios Kassandra at a party hosted by Perikles of Athens. At the party, Sophokles tasked Kassandra with ensuring Euripides and Aristophanes made quite a scene.[1]
