It also proved the strategic importance of Paris for the Franks since it was one of the largest cities throughout all of Western Europe. The outnumbered Franks successfully defended the city from an army of 30,000-40,000 Viking raiders led by Rollo. However, Rollo's warriors were left with 700 livres of silver and continued their raids into the Frankish territory of (Burgundy). Additionally, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan was a participant in the siege.[1]
