Eivor conducting trading with Azar

Overseas Trading were a set of merchant contracts overseen by the Persian trademaster Azar who had been tasked by Bárid mac Ímair, King of Dublin, with turning the city into a thriving port to curry favor with Flann Sinna, High King of Ireland. To accomplish this goal, Azar enlisted the aid of the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, jarlskona of Ravensthorpe and Bárid's cousin, during her time visiting the island in the late 9th century. Azar had Eivor acquire the deeds of various trading post around Ireland and provide supplies to increase their productions. Using the goods produced at these posts, Eivor and Azar fulfilled these contracts gaining renown for Dublin. By completing the requests, Eivor would also earn for herself individual pieces of Iberian, Rus', Egyptian, and Byzantine Greek sets of armor and weapons, two sets of ship cosmetics for her personal longship, and four settlement decorations for Ravensthorpe.[1]
