Medusa, also called the Writhing Dread, was the most famous of gorgons, a type of hybrid beast created by the Isu as part of the Olympos Project. She was held in a vault in the depths of the Petrified Valley on Lesbos.

In Greek mythology, she was described as having had hair composed of live venomous snakes, and a visage so monstrous that all who beheld it turned into stone. According to the myth, she was slain by the Mycenaen founder Perseus with a Sword of Eden.[1]

In Korinthia, the story of Medusa inspired someone to carve a monumental statue of her grimacing head, known as the Cyclopean Head of Medusa.[2]

At some point during the 5th century BCE, the misthios Kassandra gained entry into the Petrified Temple, and defeated "the Writhing Dread", retrieving the artifact that seemingly gave the creature life.[2]
