Lagos the Archon (died c. 429 BCE) was a politician and a member of the Peloponnesian League of the Cult of Kosmos active in Arkadia, Greece, during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography
Lagos the Archon was the leader of Arkadia, who supplied the Spartan army with the food they needed for the war by growing and shipping grain and wheat. Lagos was also a close friend with Spartan general Brasidas, supplying him and his men with food on one of their missions. [citation needed]
Unlike other cultists, Lagos joined them unwillingly. The Cult wanted control of Arkadia, so they asked Lagos if he would join, but when he refused, The Cult kidnapped his wife and son, forcing him to work under their thumb. Luckily, the misthios Kassandra came to his family's rescue.[1]
While Brasidas wanted Kassandra to spare Lagos knowing he was blackmailed into joining the Cult, Myrrine wanted Kassandra to kill him thinking that he deserved to die because he was a cultist, no matter the circumstance. [citation needed]
Trivia
- Lagos is a name derived from the Greek word λαγῶς (lagos) meaning 'hare', and colloquially 'coward'.
- In the novel Lagos is killed by Myrrine and is the 36th of the 42 Cultists to die.
- In the game If Kassandra killed the Monger in the cave as Brasidas requests, Lagos offers up evidence on the Peloponnesian League's Sage and quits to join his family in safety. However, if she killed the Monger at the open theater, Lagos will believe she is luring him to a public execution and fight her to the death instead.
