Hyde Park is one of the four Royal Parks in Westminster, London, England.

History

Circa 1851, Hyde Park included the recently built Crystal Palace, which showcased the first Great Exhibition. Within the exhibition, the Aurora Equestrian Troupe was one of the acts within the festivity. During one night, the acrobat Pierrette Arnaud was performing the act of Mazeppa for the first time until she realized a woman, Ada Lovelace, being attacked by four thugs. Abandoning the performance, Arnaud saved Ada as both fled away from the circus act. Bypassing the park and guarding the countess, Pierrette protected Ada until they arrived at the countess' home. There, a friendship began between the two.[1]
