The Hestiatorion was a building within the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delos, Greece.
On feast days banquets were held inside the Hestiatorion, bringing the public and divine spheres of the community closer to each other. During the Peloponnesian War the Hestiatorion housed military forces of the Delian League, making it a hostile place for the misthios Kassandra when she visited the location.[1]
The Hestiatorion was also the place where the rebel Kasos was taken to and held in, awaiting transportation, after he had caused ruckus and slain one of the guards on Delos. At the suggestion of the philosopher Sokrates, Kassandra infiltrated the banquet hall and helped Kasos escape.[2]
