Aelwyn is a Anglo-Saxon girl, who served as an apprentice, spy, and thief for the Order member, The Quill during the 9th century in Wincestre, England. She is the friend of Wigbert, an Anglo-Saxon boy, who also worked as a partner of crime with Aelywn and for The Quill.

Biography

Aelwyn's first years are unknown, but as a young orphan girl, Aelwyn was found and then put to work for The Quill, who sympathized with the young girl. Like The Quill's former work, Aelwyn was used as one of many children, who gathered knowledge by either stealing or spying all around Wincestre. Along her new way of life, Aelwyn worked closely with Wigbert, another orphan boy, who seems to be mute.[1]

Looking for The Quill, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir started her investigation by asking The Quill's people, the lonesome children of Wincestre. When she arrived and started to question some children, Eivor caught sight of two children setting a haystack aflame. These two children were then chased by Anglo-Saxon soldiers and Eivor made sure to follow one of the children to find out what they know about The Quill. Eivor caught up with the child, who happened to be Aelwyn. After a small chat with Aelwyn, Eivor was then met by her partner, Wigbert, who was shocked to see the Dane in front of him. Before any more questions, two of The Quill's thugs saw and demanded from Aelwyn to give back what she took. Dealing with the thugs, Eivor was then told by Aelwyn that the thugs were from The Quill and that both children survived away from The Quill's clutches. Asking where to find The Quill, Aelwyn told Wigbert to give the item he stole from the previous thugs. The item was a key to the underground sewers and this, unintentionally, gave the location and final clue to the true identity of The Quill, Hilda. Before leaving, Eivor was wished good luck by Aelwyn.[1]

As she looked into the underground sewers, Eivor came across a set table in an empty corridor. Looking around, Eivor is caught off-guard by Aelwyn mocking her from above. Eivor looked to see Aelwyn and her mentor, Hilda, watching her from above as she realized she walked into an ambush. As Aelwyn and Hilda look down at the Dane, Eivor insulted Hilda for her obscene manner of taking advantage of children to do her work. Fed up with her feedback, Hilda announced her guards to kill Eivor. Within the ambush, Hilda and her guards attack Eivor while Aelwyn disappeared from the combat. However, Hilda was outmatched and assassinated by Eivor. During Hilda's cutscene in the Memory Corridor with Eivor and Odin, Hilda saw a shadowy figure of Aelwyn and stated that she wanted the Order to enlighten the young girl as they did for her. After Hilda's death, Aelwyn was left without her master as were the other children under Hilda.[1]
