You cannot know anything. Only suspect.

This article contains content from pre-release sources that may or may not be reflective of canon upon release. This article therefore likely contains spoilers.

Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe, also referred to as Assassin's Creed: Neo,[1] is the working title for an upcoming installment in the Assassin's Creed series, being a part of the Animus Hub platform. The game is expected to be one of the darkest series entries yet, set during the witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, and will be helmed by Ubisoft Montreal.[2]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

In September 2022, the series' Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté revealed to IGN that Codename Hexe would be something entirely different from the Action-RPG for Ubisoft's other expected title, Assassin's Creed: Shadows.[3]

Development[edit | edit source]

First loosely alluded to in mid-July 2022 by reporter Jason Schreier as the second of two games that would be part of the Hub when it was still called "Assassin's Creed: Infinity",[4] the game's concept title was leaked on 6 September and reported by Schreier in Bloomberg News. Schreier also noted in his piece that this game would likely not release until 2024 at the earliest.[2] It was later confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward livestream during its Assassin's Creed showcase, alongside a short teaser. Clint Hocking was revealed to be the Creative Director and Darby McDevitt returning as Writer.[5]

In February 2026, it was revealed that Hocking had left the project and been replaced by Jean Guesdon as Creative Director.[6]

Release[edit | edit source]

Marketing[edit | edit source]

On 10 September 2022, a short teaser was released showing an Assassin insignia made of sticks surrounded by script from the 17th century occult alphabet of the Magi. The fan site Access the Animus translated the text and learned it comprised of two parts. The outer circle around the insignia was the Creed's maxim written clockwise in Old German, "Wir arbeiten im dem tunckel um dem licht zu dienen" ("We work in the dark to serve the light."), while the text around the pentagram, in the pentagram tips, and within the central pentagon itself were also written clockwise in a spiral pattern and read "Mephisto rache husa", which loosely translated to "Mephisto avenge this house".[7]
