Assassin's Creed: Bloodsail (Chinese: 刺客信条: 血帆) was a planned 3D action RPG for mobile platforms developed by Ubisoft China and VGame Studios, for the Chinese market. It was announced at the ChinaJoy 2016 expo, but with no further updates, the game entered vaporware status, having never been officially cancelled.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The game would feature players controlling a pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean, exploring its notable cities like Havana and Nassau while encountering side characters from Ubisoft Montreal's 2013 video game Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. In addition to naval battles, the game would feature player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) modes.[1] According to Chinese mobile gaming network 58408.com, the protagonist would be the last surviving member of a Mayan family on a quest for revenge. Said protagonist would go on to reunite with relatives in the Caribbean Sea and find out the truth behind their family's massacre.[2]
Development[edit | edit source]
An open beta was due to release exclusively in China in March 2017.[3] During its time in development, a Western release of the game was being considered. In July, it was revealed that the open beta was never released and instead was allegedly pushed to 2018.[4] As of December 2021, there have been no updates on the game's status, although the 58408.com provided information regarding the game as if it was still in development.[2]
