Rowan

Rowan was a Saxon who lived in the 9th century. He worked as a stablemaster and aviculturalist in the Viking settlement of Ravensthorpe. He tended to the horses and helped Eivor Varinsdottir in training them, as well as caring for Eivor's pet raven, Sýnin.

Biography

Business in Ledecestrescire and capture

Prior to joining Ravensthorpe, Rowan primarily worked as a hand in stables acrossing England, helping to trim and take care of horses, and ocassionally selling them to various buyers. During the Viking incursions into England, Rowan came to conduct business with the Vikings as well, primarily the Sons of Ragnar, whom he sold countless stallions to.

In 873, Rowan, alongside a Chinese merchant named Yanli, was invited by Halfdan Ragnarsson to conduct business at the Ragnarsson's encampment in Ledecestrescire. When they arrived however, the encampment had long been abandoned and bandits had settled in. The bandits captured both Rowan and Yanli, selling off the former's horses and holding both of them in the longhouse, intending to have them sold off as slaves. Sometime later, the two were found by Sigurd, Eivor, and Dag, members of the Norse Raven Clan. The clan had came seeking an alliance with the Sons of Ragnar, and dispatched the bandits who occupied the encampment. On Sigurd's orders, Eivor and Dag freed both Rowan and Yanli, and the two were offered to remain and help them to establish a new settlement, an offer both of them accepted.

Joining the Hidden Ones

Around 889, Rowan, alongside Yanli, Eluric, and Tove joined the Hidden Ones, training under the tutelage of Hytham in Ravensthorpe.
