Pitana

Pitana was a village situated in Lakonia, Peloponnese, Greece. Along with Mesoa, Limnai and Kynosoura, it was one of the villages that formed the poleis Sparta. The Agiads, one of Sparta's royal families, originated from Pitana.

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra was tasked by the magistrate of Pitana to escort her son, Makarios, to the agoge for his training.[1]
