Grime's Grave is a Neolithic flint mine in Norfolk, England, in part of what used to be the kingdom of East Anglia.[1] It is named after Odin's epithet Grimr, meaning "hooded one".[2]
History[edit | edit source]
Around 873 CE, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir found the mine[1] and read a note on a dilapidated wood structure near the entrance that told of a rumored treasure within the caverns.[3] Venturing inside, she found many silver coins and a Mysterious Hilt Tablet.[1] Later, she learned that the mine was also the home of Grendel and his mother, who had decorated the place with cursed fetishes.[4]
