Caius (died c. 122) was a Hidden One Acolytus who was based in Londinium in the Roman province of Britannia during the 2nd century.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 122, the Roman Emperor Hadrian traveled to Britannia with the objective of warring with the Britons and Picts in the north. Seeking to put a stop to this plan, Caius was sent by the Londinium bureau to infiltrate Hadrian's villa as a slave during Emperor's stay in the city and poison him. With the Emperor being a cautious man, the acolytus was advised against amorous distractions. Caius, however, was discovered and killed, making the contract a failure.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Seven centuries later, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir found the report of Caius' failed mission as she explored the Roman ruins of a Hidden Ones bureau in Lunden.[1]
