Tegea was an ancient Greek polis located in Arkadia, serving as its capital in the 5th century BCE. Unlike many of the great marble cities of Greece in the classical period, Tegea was still largely constructed of wood, a fact that contributed to the bucolic reputation of the region.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the polis.[1]
