"This war will rage forever, and so will the Cult."
―Polemon[src]-[m]

Polemon (died 420s BCE) was a Cult of Kosmos member who operated as the Sage for the Silver Vein branch during the Peloponnesian War. He was often accompanied by his pet lynx, which he had tamed and trained to fight with him.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Polemon made the Teichos of Herakles in Erymanthos Peaks of Achaia his base. There, he observed and guided the war raging through the Peloponnese, ensuring that both Sparta and Athens were equally equipped so as to make the war last.[1] In his warmongering, he crossed the Ghost of Kosmos' will enough for them to issue a warning to Polemon. The Ghost was firm in their belief that Polemon would never respect them, so instead they demanded his submission.[2]

When Polemon was informed that his underling "The Centaur" regularly had slaver captains abuse or kill some of the human cargo destined for the Abandoned Mine in Euboea, the Sage sent him a strongly-worded warning to never do it again.[3] Around the same time, he also learned that his subordinate Machaon had a security risk[4] after the dockhand Klitos had sneaked into Machaon's office and stole papers revealing the Cult's war plans and Polemon's identity.[5] Polemon ordered Machaon to deal with the matter immediately and personally report back when the leak was patched;[4] Machaon in turn tasked Deimos with tracking down Klitos to the Shipwreck Cove in Achaia and brutally killing him.[5]

Despite Polemon's information network, he was unaware of the misthios Kassandra's work in gradually eliminating the Cult. When she tracked him to the Teichos of Herakles, she slew both him and his lynx[6] before recovering the Elysian Axe from his corpse.[7]
