Amphitrite is the goddess-queen of the sea, the wife of Poseidon, and the mother of Triton in Greek mythology. Her equivalent in Roman mythology is Salacia.

A temple which had sunk by the time of the Peloponnesian War, was dedicated to her, and explored by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
