Renders[edit source]

Stormeh, the new images were off the main page, which doesn't need a login, so technically, the NDA doesn't apply to them. At least that's what Kain said. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 07:22, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

You're saying that those high-quality images come from this picture on the log-in site? Stormbeast The Helpful Place 07:25, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

Changing AC3 category[edit source]

Hi Storm,

Could you please edit Category:Assassin's Creed III for me, since it's protected (for some reason), by changing :Category:Games to Category:Real world video games? Ta. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 09:50, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

Character images[edit source]

Any chance you could grab a few screenshots of some of the characters that don't have infobox images yet? That way, people would stop uploading blurry YT shots. Capture card shots are better than YT images or nothing at all, and would be a good replacement till the PC version is out. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 12:35, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

What would you like me to grab? I can do it tonight, after work. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 15:58, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
Any characters that don't have renders that you're able to grab. A few modern day shots would be nice, like Garneau or Lemay, and past characters like Mary Read and Ah Tabai and the likes. It'd be great if you just looked out for screenshot opportunities as you play through :3 ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 16:01, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Return to Abstergo[edit source]

Stormbeast, I am the original author of the article "Return to Abstergo". Would it be possible for me to participate in the revamp of the article, by adding some pictures, perhaps?

Postmanwho (talk) 09:40, November 10, 2013 (UTC)PostmanWhoPostmanwho (talk) 09:40, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Stormface, I'd rather you not revamp these quasi-memories of Desmond's field missions that the newb added. We have the Skyscrapper one already logged in 2012 conversations, and we could just move the dialogue from these over there. Otherwise we have to add pages for all the other modern day bits across the games, and those aren't really memories. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:22, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, i'm stuck. How do you add the tab coding (A.K.A tabber) onto your profile?

An easy way would be to copy the coding from my userpage and insert information about yourself in the place of my information. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 21:15, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Navboxes: Alphabetical v importance[edit source]

Hi Storm,

I've put this matter up for discussion/vote on the this forum page, since it's something better suited to discussion there than over edit summaries. I would appreciate your input. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 09:25, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Jenkins[edit source]

Jenkins is an important character that should be added to the wiki. It would be great to keep his page on the website.ΦΣΩ 03:01, November 13, 2013 (UTC)

As of right now, he's an unnamed, randomly-generated character, who only appears in one memory. Unless I have the wrong guy, I fail to see his importance. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 03:03, November 13, 2013 (UTC)

Not really obvious. The prison memory has an optional objective to visit two "old friends". One being Vane. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 18:34, November 19, 2013 (UTC)
Ooooh, got it. Yeah, that was one of the few objectives I willfully bypassed the first time around--I was getting to Mary and Anne and no guard or optional content was going to slow me down. I'll have to give that mission a replay. Molotov.cockroach (talk) 19:08, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

The information I added was true and it was not a bad addition — Magasztos (talk) 20:25, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

The information was unnecessary. It's already stated twice that his DOB is unknown. The trivia point is just mentioning his historical DOD. Also, your edit added duplicate categories. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 20:31, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, although I do not remember anything about categories.

There's no need for a hiatus over something silly like that. Easy to clean up, lickety-split. I made sure to check over the entire edit instead of getting too trigger-happy with the rollback button. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 04:56, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Sentences[edit source]

Storm, "Ezio Auditore (subject), watching (verb) the history of humanity." is a sentence. The fact that it is also an image caption is inconsequential to the fact that it is a sentence. Granted, it should probably be changed to "Ezio Auditore watches the history of humanity." (which is still a sentence) but that's another point entirely. The Wiki agreed that captions should only have full stops when grammatically correct (i.e. at the end of a sentence), so what's the problem? --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 20:14, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

So you're going to change 98% of our image captions? Because that's how most of them are structured. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 20:15, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Duplicate[edit source]

Thanks for cutting out the white background on my adewale image, but it would be better if you'd merge your version of the image with my version so people don't get confused about duplicates. MB543 (talk) 15:52, December 20, 2013 (UTC)MB543

And also make the image bigger when you merge it with mine. MB543 (talk) 16:00, December 20, 2013 (UTC)MB543

I tried updating your image, but it would only work in PNG format, not JPG; there will be no merge. If you want to use my image, you just have to change the file in your page from .jpg to .png. Also, I can't do anything about the size, because it works with the size you started with. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 17:18, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
I can't change the file, can't you just set your version as jpg then merge it? MB543 (talk) 18:39, December 20, 2013 (UTC)MB543
No, I cannot. When I uploaded the rendered version in JPG, it saves the background for some reason. The only way it works for me is to upload in PNG. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 18:41, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
How did you remove the background? MB543 (talk) 19:11, December 20, 2013 (UTC)MB543

What do you mean the category "AC3 Libertaion locations" is out of universe? Raghava Shah 05:10, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

We are currently switching to an in-universe category system. For this example, any category labelled "Assassin's Creed X locations" should be removed and replaced with an in-universe category, like Mexico. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 05:15, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I was basing my edits on the San Danje and New Orleans articles so you should remove the location category from them too. Raghava Shah 05:19, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

Original research[edit source]

If you would bother reading the policies, you'd notice why I'm reverting all your edits. Also, please sign your posts, and watch your attitude. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 09:34, December 30, 2013 (UTC)
To quote our Sourcing policy:
"All information on an article must be attributed to a reliable source, and any material added to articles must be explicitly presented in said source." (src)
In the context of the policy, a "reliable source" is classed as information that is "published or endorsed by Ubisoft, and relate explicitly to the Assassin's Creed series." Simply put, this means that 'real-world' information has no place in our articles, unless it is referred to in published AC material. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 14:16, December 30, 2013 (UTC)

Apprentices[edit source]

Hey I saw your summary on the reason for deleting the catagory well here's a list.

1. They did guard Tulum and it's landmarks on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

2. They guarded the fortress on Masyaf in Assassin's Creed (1)

That's all I got hope you read this.

Ironspider54 (talk) 04:01, January 9, 2014 (UTC) Ironspider54

You're saying that Apprentices guarded Tulum and Masyaf. We have no way of knowing what rank the Assassins who were guarding these areas were. One would presume they were fully-fledged Assassins. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 04:07, January 9, 2014 (UTC)

Fort Independence[edit source]

May I ask why you are deleting my trivia addition to the Fort Independence article? unsigned comment by Agrable2 (talk · contr)

The trivia is speculative, at best. We don't usually add trivial information like that. There's also the matter of you messing up the code on the page. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 06:35, February 6, 2014 (UTC)
I fail to see how I am messing up the code or how the addition of trivial information like that could possibly do any harm to the wiki. unsigned comment by Agrable2 (talk · contr)
Sorry for butting in but if you are using the visual mode, you've been adding some junk codes in the article and in order to fix this problem, swtich to source mode. Speculative informations are cannot be as trivias. --AgentG231 (talk) 09:12, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

OOU category?[edit source]

Could you explain your reason for reverting my addition to Eseosa's Codex, and the abbreviation OOU? I would like to here your reasoning behind your decision and I would like to avoid edit war.--FossilLord 19:58, February 8, 2014 (UTC)

The category you added Category:Assassin's Creed: Initiates was out-of-universe, meaning it doesn't belong on an in-universe article such as Eseosa's Codex. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 22:48, February 8, 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough explanation but since it was found on the site itself shouldn't it be added to the pull down menu thing that we find at the bottom of initiates pages?--FossilLord 21:36, February 9, 2014 (UTC)
If you're talking about the Initiates navbox, there'd be no place for it. Initiates, as well as its navbox, mostly focuses on present-day events. Eseosa's Codex is clearly written in the 18th/19th century. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 02:40, February 10, 2014 (UTC)
I am and there should to be a link between where the information came from ad the source itself otherwise this wiki will become to confusing.--FossilLord 20:27, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The reference listed in Eseosa's Codex is our AC: Initiates article, which in turn, links to the Initiates website. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 04:34, February 14, 2014 (UTC)

Storm, I don't know whether you're confusing the Initiates content with just what's revealed in its Surveillance section, but I'd say the addition of Eseosa's Codex in an in-universe way to the Initiates navbox is more than warranted given the depth of new information it reveals about the Haitian Revolution. Duellist portrait deletion[edit source]

Hello Stormbeast, someone has been continuisly deleting my "Duelest" portrait photo from the 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Multiplayer Characters' page. I've sorced the photo (I believe correctly, if not, please help me fix it.) and I posted the photo on the page with an edit summary, saying I had sourced and everything that I've been told to do. Could you please step into this problem please, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am only trying to help make this wiki a more updated place by uploading things. Thank you for taking the time for reading this if you have. XXUnknownAssassinXx (talk) 06:42, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

First off, it has only been reverted once, by me. We use specifically-cropped images for those pages. Secondly, I marked your image for deletion because it already exists on the wiki. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 06:45, February 16, 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, alright. I see your point now with that. Now, if I am correct, there is a space in a photos sorucing that says: '...including whether the image has been modified from the original, and how.' I take it that I could find the original photo of what I have been attempting to upload and edit it to be cut and then set to your cropping parameters (if you would tell me them, please) and I could put in that spot in the sourcing that it has been cut and cropped and put the name of the original uploader in the same place? If I am incorrect, please continue to help me. XXUnknownAssassinXx (talk) 06:55, February 16, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure what the parameters are. Last I checked, Nesty was the last person to work on those wall images. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 07:34, February 16, 2014 (UTC)
Thou hattest summoned me. Anyway, the problem witht he ACIV images at the moment is that we do not have images from which we can make unified wall images. I'm still looking for a few missing images, because it would be really ugly if we use renders for some, promotional art for others, and concept art for the remainders. Once I've found the necessary images, be it renders or promotional art, I'll see to the creation of wall images. Frankly, I don't really know the crop size - I just saved it in my photoshop preferences... Hope that helps. Nesty Contact me! 07:37, February 16, 2014 (UTC)
Alright, thank you guys for notifying me of all of this. XXUnknownAssassinXx (talk) 07:50, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

Reginald Birch in ACIV[edit source]

Hey Stormeh!

So don't shoot me, but I saw something pass by on Tumblr about Reginald Birch appearing in the memory "How Grand, Master Kenway". I actually thought they were mistaken, but I checked our page for it and it confirms it :s So I had a look at the history and apparently you said this information came from Initiates? I had a brief check there and I can't find it at the moment - would you mind pointing me to the page where you found that info? I'm just double-checking, I hope you don't mind :)

Records of the Grand Historian[edit source]

Hey, just because you didn't manage to find it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You see, it's simple: go to the author's page on Wikipedia, and actually use your brain and try to work out which work we're talking about, even if the title may not perfectly match..? For instance, here we have Records, not Record. You see?

  1. Use source mode so you don't leave behind junk code.
  2. Use "Preview" and make sure the link works. If you need to redirect it to a Wikipedia article that does exist use {{WP-REAL|Records of the Grand Historian}}.
  3. Sign your posts.

De Fayet Image[edit source]

I uploaded a picture of Pierre, Marquis de Fayet to his page however anytime i add a picture to an empty page that needs one; i have someone always undo what i try to contribute i dont understand what was wrong with the picture i uploaded of a screenshot of Pierre, Marquis de Fayet. if you could let me know so i do not make the mistake in the furture i would appreciate it. AndyC89

(I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, Storm)
Andy, your image is most likely being removed because it's not up to the Wiki's image standards. I'm going to guess the image is a still from a youtube video or something, because it's not very high quality and the subtitles are visible. If you'd find an unsubtitled image of de Fayet, you might get a pass, since the Freedom Cry articles are still in the works.
P.S. Please sign your posts. Crook The Constantine District 10:31, March 12, 2014 (UTC)

Guanche Assassins image[edit source]

Hi Stormbeast! Just to make sure, could you please go to the page ACFanon:Guanche Assassins and check if the image I uploaded is sourced?

I suck at editing, so I just need to make sure

Nay Mate Woody (talk) 08:55, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

As a personal decision, I don't read fanons. But to be clear, that's not where you source your image. You have to edit the image itself, using the template I linked you on your talkpage. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 15:35, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Dear Stormbeast, I am Joker0002710, i can't upload a photo of Nicholas Biddle,i don't know why but Kainzorus Prime always deletes it. http://it.assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Nicholas_Biddle is the site i downloaded it from, here's other info. about it http://it.assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/File:Nicholas_Biddle_render.png. Please see if you can upload it.And can you please tell me how you made Connor appear on the right side of your profile on Assassin's creed wiki?~Joker0002710[1]Chat Conversation End

You'll find that we already have that image here, though I believe Kain is looking for a better shot for Biddle's infobox image. As for my Connor avatar, I used this code. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 22:21, March 29, 2014 (UTC)

The Father of Understanding[edit source]

Why did you delete my edit on The Father of Understanding page? DanyD (talk) 18:53, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

As stated in my edit summary, there is no source for your trivia addition. If you can find a source that verifies the in-universe Father of Understanding is "Baphomet", then feel free to re-add the information, with the correct sourcing in place. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 18:52, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
I thought with a Trivia it dosen't have to be in-universe just as long as it links with the topic. DanyD (talk) 19:05, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
The way you wrote it implied that it was true. Without a proper source, this would mean that it is speculation, which is not allowed on articles. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 19:08, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

I think I'll step in here. Yes, I do know that Black Flag specifies that it's a hoax by Erudito, but since it's a statement from Abstergo and the fact that Erudito doesn't seem like the type to do that considering their interactions to you in Project Legacy and AC3's multiplayer, it may be wise to take it with a grain of salt.

Pages and categories[edit source]

Look, I don't want to get into an edit war, but if someone clicked the Countries in Europe category, they would have to click the Portgual category just to access Portugal's article. Wikis ought to be convenient. Otherwise, I feel you ought to be consistent and remove the category from other articles eg. remove Category:Countries in North America from United States. --Alientraveller (talk) 09:36, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

I remove them as I see them, not go out searching for them, but thanks for bringing that one up. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 14:40, May 22, 2014 (UTC)
Would it not make sense to retain Category:Countries in North America but remove Category:United States? The latter category is described as "Cities and locations in the United States of America", and I'm not sure if the US itself belongs in this category. It would be like me using Category:Short blades on the Short blades article, and I don't think that would be right. --Crimson Knight Intercom 15:13, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

I didn't "screw up" anything. Currently, your pictures are unsourced. The Louis Godin image can be added to the gallery when it's properly sourced; it's just not something we use in the infobox. As for the Pierre image, it's watermarked and has way too much black space to be a quality image. I'm sure we can get a better shot. Also, sign your posts. Adding a photo[edit source]

Hi, i was wondering if their was any way, that you could redirect the place where it says "Add a Photo" to this page because I feel like many new users don't find it necessary and don't know know how to source an image and the this might give them a heads up on how this is the place where they need to upload a photo and how you need to fill in a Sourcing Template. Thanks! Raghava Shah 03:43, June 7, 2014 (UTC)

Umm...I wouldn't even begin to know where to start, as I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about. I would assume a MediaWiki change would be needed. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 03:57, June 7, 2014 (UTC)

Just saying. If you don't like the pictures I added, you forgot one! Cheers! --Altaïr 17:13, June 12, 2014 (UTC)

It's not that I don't like them, it's that you're uploading duplicate images. It's less hassle to update the current image and source. Which one did I miss? Stormbeast The Helpful Place 17:15, June 12, 2014 (UTC)
Duplicate images? They were larger versions of the previous pictures that were posted. I think you missed the special edition. Edit: Just noticed. I'm sure I saw the previous versions, which is odd. That's why I assumed I posted larger versions. However that still doesn't explain why you removed the Pocket Watch bundle. I know it's in German, but it's the only image I could find --Altaïr 17:33, June 12, 2014 (UTC)

Navboxes[edit source]

Hey Storm, long time! About those navboxes and them being OOU...why do the older pages still have them still then? I don't understand this wiki anymore :/--OdranoellutaTalk<choose><option>http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/marvel-cinematic-universe/images/1/18/Sig.png</option></choose> 16:58, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

The older pages still have them because we haven't quite got the new navboxes up and running yet. One user got a little over-zealous and created the ACU navbox without it needing to be. My hope was to get the new ones working before there's was too much info on ACU, thus making it's creation moot. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 17:02, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

Charlestown and OOU categories[edit source]

Just wanted to ask this real quick, so I know how best to proceed when I find categories like the ones used on the Charlestown page that you restored. I was under the impression that we're doing our best to remove OOU categories from IU pages. Is that not the case in certain circumstances? -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 03:05, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

"Assassin's Creed X multiplayer location" would be OOU. "X stage locations" is in-universe. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 03:07, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. Also, I noticed you putting a | in the category tags for some pages. What does that do? I'd like to know how to be able to use it so I can edit more comprehensively. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 03:51, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
It's hard to explain without showing you. Let's take Havana for instance. The regular way you did it would list Havana under "H" in the Havana category. Since it is in its own category's namesake, it should appear like this. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 03:54, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Aaah, that's very clever! I'll remember that. Thank you. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 04:00, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks[edit source]

Wikipedia's recommendation on linking is to include a link to a given topic at its first occurrence in each section of an article. External recommendations aside, I sought out to provide more linking because I myself was frustrated while I read, coming across a topic halfway through an article, wondering why it wasn't linked, and scrolling around trying to find the original occurrence of it in another section I hadn't read. My linking was in the hopes to prevent other readers from being similarly frustrated.

Though you may consider em dashes unnecessary punctuation, they provide a welcome contrast from unsightly sequences of commas, and are more appropriate than semicolons in some circumstances—not to mention that portions of the article already had hyphens in places where em dashes were intended, which is simply poor typography.

But hey, the important thing is that you made a good impression by reverting an edit made in good faith that did not actually detriment the article, and subsequently dashed away any motivation of mine to improve this wiki in subtle, but tangible, ways. Thanks. ProtonZero[talk] 23:46, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

There's no need to be in a pouty mood, Proton. A lot of "good-faith" edits are reverted if it doesn't meet the MoS standards. First off: we're not Wikipedia. We link once (twice if there's an infobox). Secondly: make sure to preview and check where your links are sending readers; most of the ones you added are just redirects, which we refrain from using in articles. Third: I myself use CTRL+F a lot if I'm looking for a word or phrase while editing/reading. Lastly, your sarcasm is lost to me, as I'm in a fairly good mood today, so I'll just end by saying "you're welcome". Happy editing :) Stormbeast The Helpful Place 00:19, July 16, 2014 (UTC)
