Talk:Desert Vision
Mirages? or Hallucinations?[edit source]
Quite a number of "mirages" in the game can't possibly be mirages because mirages are projections of real objects from a distance. Instead, Bayek experiences all kinds of visions under the heat of the desert; some which direct him to an important location and others which seem to be phantasms of the past. Scientifically speaking, these can't be mirages although it seems plausible that the developers had indeed meant for them to be stand-in as "mirages". What shall we do about this? I suppose we will have to create a separate article for the hallucinations, but I haven't played enough of the game and experienced enough of these "mirages" to be able to have a clear idea about it just yet. - In the Memory Corridor loading screen one of the little blurbs is titled Desert Visions. That’s probably the closest to canon name for the phenomenon. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 08:27, March 8, 2018 (UTC)
- Great catch Lacrossedeamon! I'm trying to see if the Official Guide provides any official gameplay term, but I can't seem to find any. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:32, March 9, 2018 (UTC)
- You are trying in vain Sol. There's nothing there about the Mirages.Cristophorus35 (talk) 06:05, March 9, 2018 (UTC)

So this article needs to be rewritten because it gives a scientific explanation of mirages, displaced images of real objects, but this is clearly not what the desert visions in the game are. So should we rewrite them as hallucinations after all? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:45, February 21, 2019 (UTC)
- Without any more context they are definitely hallucinations but given that a lot are prophetic I wonder if it’s actually a manifestation of EV. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 09:59, February 21, 2019 (UTC)
- Prophetic? All I've seen feature rather stuff that's already happened, not what will or might happen. For example, the ghostly riding companion: only those you've already slain may appear as that. Sadelyrate (siniath) 15:00, February 21, 2019 (UTC)
- Some of them lead you silica or other special locations and I think the sand drawings can happen before the target is killed. These seem sorta prophetic to me. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 15:51, February 21, 2019 (UTC)
