A vision of a pictograph on the sand showing Bayek killing a hippopotamus

Desert Visions were a series of mirages and hallucinations brought on by heat exhaustion. The Medjay and later Hidden Ones co-founder Bayek of Siwa often experienced these during his travels across Egypt to destroy the Order of the Ancients. Some were clairvoyant in nature, leading him to silica deposits or specific locations, while others alluded to events experienced both by Bayek and people much more ancient than him.[1] The Alamut Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq also experienced hallucinations when travelling around the deserts north of al-Ula, though his tended to be less varied in nature.[2]

Sand drawings[edit | edit source]

Most of these mirages would be prefaced by a hallucination of Khemu drawing on the sand, though when approached, only one of these drawings would remain.
