Real Monasterio de Santo Tomás

The Real Monasterio de Santo Tomás was a monastery dedicated to Saint Thomas Aquinas in Ávila, Spain. It was located atop the Forge, an Isu vault.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Some time prior to 1498, the Inquisitor General Tomás de Torquemada, a Master Templar of the Spanish Rite of the Templar Order, discovered the vault underneath the monastery.[2] Once Torquemada had acquired all three pieces of the Shattered Staff of Eden, he used the Forge to repair the Staff, then spent weeks at the monastery above and the vault below studying it.[1]

In 1498, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins tracked down Torquemada and hatched a plan to defeat him. They secured the aid of company of mercenaries to raid the monastery and create a diversion while the Assassins sneaked into the vault,[2] retrieved the Staff of Eden, and killed the Templar. They eventually emerged victorious, assassinating Torquemada and destroying both the Staff and the ancient vault.[3]
