One Eye's Pub

One Eye's Pub was a pub in Macau at the time when it was a colony under the Portuguese Empire. During the early 18th century, it was frequented by many sailors and pirates based in the city.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
In 1725, the British Assassin Edward Kenway visited the pub in the hopes of uncovering more information about Sun, the head of the Hualien Trading Company, after learning that the latter regularly employed the services of pirates to attack his rivals' merchant ships. Approaching two sailors sitting at a table, Edward offered to buy them another round of drinks in exchange for information; an offer gladly accepted by the sailors.[1]
However, the conversation was cut short by a group of pirates who had recognized Edward from a wanted poster and sought to collect the bounty on him. After tossing a coin into the air to distract his assailants, Edward turned around to face them and made quick work of them. Following the brawl, Edward left the pub in a hurry to avoid being recognized by anyone else, and ran into his friend Zhang, who was on his way to the market. Realizing Zhang could help him uncover the information he sought, the pair left the area and headed to a secluded alley to talk about Sun and his business.[1]
