Denis Diderot (1713 – 1784) was a French philosopher, writer, and prominent figure during the Age of Enlightenment. Among his many accomplishments, Diderot was the editor of the Encyclopédie, a French compendium of sciences and arts.[1]

A noted patron of cafés such as the Café Procope[2] and the Café de la Régence,[3] Diderot enjoyed the company of other intellectuals of the period. After his death, Diderot was entombed in the Church of Saint-Roch along with other luminaries, such as Marie Thérèse Rodet Geoffrin.[4]
