Guillotine Gun

The Guillotine Gun was a specialized ranged weapon which combined a mortar grenade launcher with an axehead on the end of the barrel. The end result was an extremely lethal weapon capable of annihilating entire groups of enemies from long range whilst also offering some form of melee weapon.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1794, raiders led by the French Army captain Philippe Rose carried these guns while stationed in Saint-Denis during their attempt to recover the Head of Saint Denis from the catacombs beneath the Basilica of Saint-Denis, on the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte. Despite the raiders' numbers, a young orphan named Léon stole a gun from them and gave it to the French Assassin Arno Dorian to use in his explorations of the catacombs.[1] Throughout his stay in Saint-Denis, Arno found and claimed several other models of the gun, putting them to deadly use against the raiders.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Guillotine Gun is a weapon type introduced in Dead Kings, the 2015 downloadable expansion for the 2014 video game Assassin's Creed: Unity. It looks to be an upscaled version of the Polish cavalry's axe pistols that were in use from the 16th–18th centuries.[3]
