Sigfred's Forward Camp

Sigfred's Forward Camp was a camp of the Viking Jarl Sigfred and Elgring Clan territory in southwestern Paris.

History[edit | edit source]

In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir visited the camp and met with Toka Sinricsdottir. Toka and Eivor talked about not wanting to have a siege, as per the innocent children and a possible truce. Sigfred interrupted them as he wanted to proceed, but Eivor convinced him and stated that Count Odo was a viable option to seek a truce. Sigfred relented and let Eivor go to find and meet with Count Odo.[1]

However, Eivor returned after her conversation with Count Odo and met with Toka, Sigfred, and one of Sigfred's thegn, Goll. Eivor did not convince Odo and returned back to continue Sigfred's preparations. Sigfred outlined his plans to place his catapults at an advantageous area. Toka divulged her possible access to a probable weakness of Paris' defenses. Also, Toka reiterated of another try to convince King Charles the Fat to find a truce if Odo would not. Eivor agreed to help with all these tasks and Toka, Sigfred, and Eivor went and prepared for the siege.[1]

After completing the preparations, Eivor headed back to the camp to find Sigfred and Toka. However, Goll welcomed her poorly as she stated that Toka and Sigfred were busy with more catapults. Eivor, annoyed with Goll's attitude, went to find herself to wait for them and sat a bench nearby the camp. After a moment with herself, Eivor was met by Toka, who was worried about the siege. Eivor assured that she will fight those in battle, and not innocents. Sigfred walked in and challenged Eivor on his method of killing everyone within the city. Eivor retorted and Sigfred laughed off her response.[2]

After she slept the nigth, Eivor awoke to hear Sigfred rallying his warriors. Sigfred stated that they will either succeed with silver and food galore or be sent to Valhalla. After seeing a mystic elk, Sigfred roared out his last words as his warriors followed him.[2]
