Holger was a Norse skald and member of the Raven Clan during the 9th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

When Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir moved to England with a part of her clan, Holger went with her and settled in Ravensthorpe. Holger is the brother of Alvis and they moved into a small house behind the longhouse in Ravensthorpe after Eivor commissioned its build.[1]

As an artist, Holger often steps on toes around the settlement due to him using unusual canvasses, or borrowing items without asking for his art. At one time, cut off the tail of a horse to use as a brush, angering Rowan.[2] On another occasion Holger used a sail of Gudrun without asking. Sigurd, clearly angry at him, made him pay for the sail thirtyfold in silver, which upset even Gudrun, who wanted him to pay for her sail.[3]

Holger would often be busy writing poems, including a poem which consisted of dozens of pages asking for all kinds of things he loves to be granted by the gods,[4] and a small tale written about Odin, which he left behind in Fornburg, Norway.[5]
