Asta was an Anglo-Saxon girl in England during the 9th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Asta was a young girl who lived in Northwic, East Anglia. One day, she saw the horse Skinfaxi had wandered away from her owner and became stranded on a dock on the bank of a low river. Seeing a chance to steal the horse, she tried to call it to her side as she had seen Skinfaxi's owner do before, but her efforts were to no avail due to the horse's deafness. Some time later, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan encountered the girl and helped her by "returning" the horse, only to learn as Astra rode away that she was not the true owner, as Skinfaxi's actual owner came running and calling for her to stop.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The voice of Asta was provided by Idun Mealor Olsen, who also voices Ratatosk, Kaija, and the young Eivor Varinsdottir in Valhalla.[2]
