The Volga is a river in Eastern Europe, flowing through modern day Russia.

Around the 860s, the body of Viking Rig Reidarasson was returned home from Rusland on a journey up the Volga.[1] Around ten years later, Sigurd Styrbjornsson of the Raven Clan traveled east, down the Volga.[2]
The city of Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers. In September 1918, in the midst of the Kazan Operation, the Russian Assassin Nikolai Orelov and Grand Duchess Anastasia attempted to escape the city after being betrayed by Leon Trotsky, who sold Nikolai out to the Templars to further the growing revolution.[3] Nikolai and Anastasia eventually managed to board a boat at the Kazan docks and left the city through the Volga.[4]
