"Templars. Assassins. You are both and neither, yes? All over again. Wherever your war blooms, people die, and die, and die."
―Miguel to Jasdip Dhami, 2018.[src]-[m]

Miguel (died August 2018) was a Spaniard who, along with a woman, were assigned to guard the resting place of the Koh-i-Noor in a mass-grave south of Barcelona.

Biography[edit | edit source]

As descendants of orphans trained by Albert Bolden and Ignacio Cardona, Miguel and the woman guarded the Koh-i-Noor for years using their skills. As part of their duty, they killed anyone who got close to the artifact's resting place, including some Assassins. One of their victims was a young Assassin recruit named Stephen Heggenes.[1]

In August 2018, at 21:45pm, three days before Resurrection Day, Miguel and his fellow guard spotted the Assassins Arend Schut-Cunningham and Kiyoshi Takakura on a nearby hill. Under false pretenses, Miguel greeted Arend in Spanish but switched to English when Arend replied in kind. The two guards then attacked the Assassins; however, Miguel and the woman were no match for their opponents and were easily defeated. Miguel was then promptly kicked off the hill.[1]

Before the Assassins could continue beating them, the Instruments of the First Will arrived via helicopter to retrieve the Koh-i-Noor, and took both the elderly guards and the Assassins captive. The Instrument Jasdip Dhami, recognizing the blood of his former student Heggenes, tortured Miguel by ripping out his fingernails with a pair of pliers. Arend tried to stop the torture, to which Dhami demanded the whereabouts of the Assassin's teammates Charlotte de la Cruz, Galina Voronina, and Juhani Otso Berg. After the Instruments located the trio, who had retrieved the Koh-i-Noor, they went to confront them, bringing their captives, including Miguel, along.[1]

When Dhami ordered a mortar bombardment on their position, Miguel walked through the fire in a last-ditch attempt to prevent the Instrument from escaping with the Koh-i-Noor. He grabbed Dhami, inviting him to burn alongside him, only for Jasdip to slice his head in two with his Hidden Blade. After the Instruments fled with the Koh-i-Noor, Miguel and his partner were buried by Arend.[2]
