Abdul Ortega

Abdul Ortega (died April 1937) was a Spanish fighter who fought on the side of the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War.

By 1937, Abdul became a companion of the Spanish Assassin Ignacio Cardona, joining him and his cell in their battles. By late April, after the Bombing of Guernica, Abdul and the Spanish Assassins were enroute to Barcelona. One night during a bonfire, Abdul questioned Ignacio about their group's Assassin identity and their own war, expressing skepticism about their presence's agenda in Spain. Ignacio, however, refuted that he's a Spaniard first before his Assassin identity and would stand up against anyone who would oppress his own people.[1]

Just as Abdul proclaim the Spanish workers would never have the option of abandoning the fight against the Nationalists, he was shot and killed by a bullet from the bushes, which was revealed to be from young Republicans who mistook them for Nationalists.[1]
