Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Geirmund's Saga
Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Geirmund's Saga[1] is an official tie-in novel of the video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla by Matthew J. Kirby[2], with cover art by Jung Gi Kim.[1] The book is an original story that is connected to the events of the game,[3] set around the Viking invasions of England during the late 9th century. It follows the tale of Geirmund Hellskin, as he proves his worth as a Viking, joining King Guthrum's army.[1]
Kirby had previously written a trilogy of young adult Assassin's Creed novels – Last Descendants – with the final installment, Fate of the Gods, featuring the Vikings of 10th century Scandinavia.
Development
Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Geirmund's Saga received untitled listings in online retailers days before the its tie-in game was revealed.[4] A day after the game itself was revealed, fansite AccessTheAnimus reported the name of the novel, then simply Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and revealed its author and preliminary cover art.[2]
Following Ubisoft's first Ubisoft Forward presentation, where the game's release date was announced, the full title of the novel and its premise were revealed with the cover art set to be done by Korean artist Jung Gi Kim.[1]
