Tedmund was a thegn, who was chosen by King Aelfred of Wessex to be the next ealdorman of 9th century Cent, England.

Biography

Not much is known about Tedmund, except that he was a thegn of Cent and recently came to hire a former monk, Shergar, as his body double. When the Viking expansion happened in England, Tedmund was heard to be scared and became a recluse within Rouecistre Fortress[1]

When the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan and her allies, which included Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq and Mercian thegn, Geadric, came to storm Rouecistre Fortress, Tedmund held his position at the main tower. After Eivor had bulldozed and defeated his soldier, Tedmund was later face-to-face with Eivor. Tedmund fought Eivor for his fortress, but was defeated by the shieldmaiden. With Basim joining after the fight, Tedmund finally became captured by both Eivor and Basim and brought to the entrance of the fortress.[2]

At the entrance, Tedmund saw that the Abbot Cynebert came and performed his part in the shadow play as Tedmund's rescuer. As he started to question his current surroundings, Tedmund began to cough while being held hostage. Getting worse, Tedmund admitted that he could not breathe and collapsed in front everyone. Eivor checked his pulse and declared Tedmund dead. Due to his death, Tedmund was no longer able to be an ally for Cynebert.[2]

Behind the scenes

Tedmund's death was unknown, as Basim surmised that his death was due to suicide by poison. However, it is still unknown on how Tedmund died.
