Samurai

The Samurai were a class of trained warriors that existed since throughout much of Japan's feudal period from the Asuka and Nara eras until the Meiji Restoration. They were well-paid retainers of feudal lords and wealthy landowners known as daimyo, though some were masterless samurai known as ronin.
