The title of Mentor was given to leaders in the Assassin Order who had obtained an extraordinary amount of skill and wisdom, most among members of the entire order.
Assassins must walk long way to reach title of Mentor:
- First, they must enter The Order - became Apprentice.
- After learning all skills of Assassins, Apprentice can became Assassin, full member of The Order.
- Whether Assassin significantly exceeds others with skills, mind and loyalty, he can became Master Assassin. This title means different things in other Assassin guilds - for example in Ottoman Assassins, Yusuf Tazim was only Master Assassin and as well only leader, but in Syrian Assassins there were more Masters and they were not leaders.
- If Master Assassin is wiser, more experienced then other Masters and undeniably good leader, he might became Mentor (if the post os empty), the Grand Master of the Assassins Order. That means he is the ultimate leader of all people who call themselves "Assassin", as well as all Assassins guilds.
Mentor was absolute leader of all Assassins who knew about each other and were connected. E.g. when Ezio - who was in Rome promoted to post of Mentor - arrived to Constantinopoli, he automatically became leader of Ottoman Assassins, despite Master Assassin Yusuf Tazim was in charge. Ezio were also able due his post to promote random Assassin to Yusuf's pozition.
During the 20th century, the title of Mentor had become very important for entire Order, due to deletion of all small guilds and connection to one worldwide organization.[1] By 2012, Bill Miles was leading the order in some capacity, but it was unkown if he was in this position as Mentor.
