Manoir des Fleurs Rouges was a manor in Paris which served as the residence of Odo, the Count of the district in West Francia.
History
In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan was sent by her allies, Toka Sinricsdottir and her uncle, Sigfred, to look for Count Odo. Eivor investigated the fortress, Pontem Esera, and found a letter from Odo's wife, Théodrate of Troyes, which explained for him to come back to the Manoir des Fleurs Rouges and welcome his guests. Thus, Eivor traveled to the manor in the northern Paris.[1]
Arriving at the manor, Eivor noticed that Theodrate was at the main entrance, keeping watch and attendance of those invited, making sure they have the invitation. Nevertheless, Eivor devised of a way to go inside and started to snoop within the manor. Eivor overheard the guests talking and saw that Odo was in a meeting behind closed doors. Probing the area, Eivor heard that one of the lords was given a key to the study. Eivor sneaked behind the lord and stole the key from his possession. Using the key, Eivor opened a door in the lower level and climbed up the stairs to the meeting. During the meeting, Odo and Gozlin were discussing the nobles' aid for the siege, while the nobles wondered to just give in to the Vikings' demand. However, Odo reminded them of their duties to Paris and its people and then dismissed them, with Gozlin's aid.[1]
As all left, except Odo, the Count called out Eivor, whom he noticed behind the stairs. Eivor and Odo met, as Odo extended his hospitality. Eivor explained that she was not after more land or silver, but a truce that will stop Charles from moving on to England. Odo listened and asked her what she desired instead of the siege. Eivor stated she wanted no Frankish interference in England, Sigfred to be seen as an ally, and the lands they took to be theirs. On the last point, Odo grew angry as the lands of Rouen and Amiens were his, by birthright. Odo soon declared no truce and that next time they meet, it would be on the battlefield. Unsuccessful, Eivor was escorted out of the manor and headed back to Sigfred and Toka at Sigfred's Forward Camp.[1]
Through her travels, Eivor found a chest underneath the manor. However, Eivor saw that the chest was locked and probed the area to find its key. Eivor spotted the key near some boxes and plague-infested rats. Eivor retrieved the key, unlocked the chest, and obtained a Tungsten ingot.[2]
