Kongōbu-ji

Kongōbu-ji (金剛峯寺) is a sacred Buddhist temple east of Koyasan Danjo Garan in Kii, Japan.[1]
History
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke tracked down Endo Tomoyasu, a spy who was accessory to Akechi Mitsuhide's betrayal of Oda Nobunaga at Honnō-ji. Upon the pair's arrival at the temple, they saw Nobunaga's samurai retainer Hori Hidemasa had already killed Tomoyasu. Hidemasa explained that it was a matter of urgency before Naoe and Yasuke advised him to leave quickly before anyone spotted them.[2] They later returned to the temple, infiltrated its grounds, and recovered three lost pages scattered around its premises.[3]
