Grendel's mother was an Anglo-Saxon living in England during the 9th century. She was the mother of Grendel, a very large man but with the mental capacity of a child.

History

When the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan traveled to East Anglia to investigate the death of a number of cattle, she met with Abbess Wulfhilda. During her investigation into the dead cows, she unknowingly met Grendel's mother, who blamed Hrothgar and his raiding crew.[1] When Eivor and Wulfhilda further investigated the nearby forests, Eivor saved Grendel's mother from some wolves as she purportedly searched for her best milk cow amongst another group of dead cattle.[2] Eivor's investigation eventually led her to Grime's Graves, where she was attacked by Grendel's mother and killed her whilst defending herself.[3]
