Grendel's mother was an Anglo-Saxon living in England during the 9th century. She was the mother of Grendel, the size of a very large man but with the mental capacity of a child.
History
When Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir traveled to East Anglia to investigate the death of a number of cattle, she met with Wulfhilda. During her investigation into the dead cows, she unknowingly met Grendel's mother, who blaimed Hrothgar and his raiding crew.[1] When Eivor and Wulfhilda fruther investigated the nearby forests, Eivor saved Grendel's mother, who was near some other dead cows, claiming to be searching for her best milk cow.[2] Eivor's investigation eventually led her to Grime's Graves where she was attacked by Grendel's mother, and killed her whilst defending herself.[3]
Behind the scenes
Grendel and his mother are a reference to the legend of Beowulf.
