Fortified Ruins

The Fortified Ruins was a large Frankish settlement build along the River Rhine in the northwestern part of the region, southwest of the Rhine Fortification. These old Roman ruins were re-used to serve as a fortification by a significant military force. The city featured what remained of a bathhouse, a large tower, and parts a still working aqueduct.

In the 9th century, it was raided multiple times by the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, Vagn, and her longship crew.[1]
