Dover is a city in Kent, England.

History

In 1660, the new English Parliament proclaimed Charles II as the new king after the death of Richard Cromwell, thanks to General George Monck's efforts. Charles II sailed from Breda to Dover, where several ships welcomed him with cheer.[1] Monck greeted him in Dover and they marched toward London to secure the throne.[2]
