Deoraby Spar Cavern

Deoraby Spar Cavern was a cave in northeastern Snotinghamscire. It was a site that held one of the tablets that are part of the Treasures of Britain.

History[edit | edit source]

In the 870s, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir ventured inside the cave and found a hidden entrance within the cave. Eivor maneuvered her way through the cavern's damaged sculptures and found herself in a room. There, Eivor recovered a whetstone tablet and soon left the area.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

It is based upon Blue John Cavern in Derbyshire, England, near Peak Cavern. The glowing blue stones visible in the cave represent the mineral Derbyshire Spar, also known as Blue John.
