Aelfwyn, self-proclaimed the Hammer of the Heathens, was an Anglo-Saxon nun in England during the 9th century.

History

Aelfwyn was a devote member of Christianity who was a member of the church of Edmund's Hope. Feeling obligated to defend the holy ground, sister Aelfwyn had killed several Danes who trespassed.

When Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan entered the church, she met Aelfwyn who treated her as a tresspasser too. Aelfwyn attacked Eivor, forcing her to defend herself and defeat Aelfwyn in battle.[1]
