By the time Eivor Varinsdottir ventured to Dublin, the Viking expansion in Ireland was already over, as they had already been defeated by by High King Aed Findliath. After defeating the Vikings, Aed installed a Norse-Gael, born from an Irish mother, Barid mac Imair, as King of Dublin.[1]
