Black Stout

The Black Stout was a legendary wild boar that lived in 9th century Connacht, Ireland. A gigantic boar, this legendary animal was an outlier, due to its size of its four tusks, when compared to the general population of wild boars.

History

In the 880s, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan travelled around the region of northeastern Connacht in Ireland. Along her journey, Eivor came the area known as Black Pig's Dyke, which showcased ruins of a past stronghold destroyed with cages destroyed and corpses all around. Eivor looked around the area more as Eivor came to see the gigantic animal resting within the middle of the dyke. Upon entering its domain, Eivor startled the wild boar, which let out a loud squeal, before it began attacking the warrior. Eivor had to attack the wild animal at its sides, as its tusks proved to be impenetrable to combat attacks. After a gruesome battle, Eivor killed the creature.[1]

Behind the scenes

The area the wild boar lives on has a limited supply of winter chanterelle and blackish purple russula with which to replenish Eivor's health and stamina, increasing the difficulty of the fight with the legendary creature.
