Berwick-upon-Tweed, or simply Berwick is a port town and parish in Northumberland, England, located south of the Anglo-Scottish border By the late 13th century it was Scotland's most important trading port. In 1296 it was captured by the English in the first significant battle of the First War of Scottish Independence.
