Bear of The Blue Waters
- "A hundred men hath climbed through the hellish froth of Thor’s Breath to meet this king, only to be stone-water at the bottom of this sacred lake in the Valley of the Forsaken. This bear was made with ice itself, they say, and born from Thor and Freyja’s affair. Beware, for its fangs thirst for the eyes of the idiotic."
- ―A hunting log of the Bear of The Blue Waters[src]

The Bear of The Blue Waters was a legendary polar bear that lived in 9th century Hordafylke. A gigantic bear, this legendary animal was an anomaly, due to its size, when compared to the general population of polar bears in Norway.
History
In the 870s, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan travelled around the region of Hordafylke. Along her journey, Eivor came across a hunting log, which gave an account of a "bear" that was told to be the offspring of an affair between Thor and Freyja. Eivor looked around the island of Bolrikbjorn, west of Helskip, and caught sight of the beast, which had arrows and a sword plunged into its back. Eivor looked closer, only to see broken-down longships near the island's shore and remnants of past failed battles near the animal itself. Upon entering its domain, Eivor startled the polar bear and the legendary animal heavily snarled and then began to attack the warrior. After a gruesome battle, Eivor killed the creature and collected its head as her prize.[1]
Behind the scenes
Regardless what time of day or night Eivor fights the creature, the island is filled with a limited supply of winter chanterelle and cloudberries, to replenish herself, and arrows, to reload.
