Tenochtitlan was the capital of the Aztec civilization, located in Mexico.
History
Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire
In 1520, Giovanni Borgia, an Assassin tasked with obtaining a Crystal Skull, secretly traveled with Hernán Cortés to Mexico.[1]
While the Spanish came in peace at first, they massacred the Aztecs after seeing their barbaric traditions, and as an excuse to take the Aztec's gold. In the process, the Aztec leader Moctezuma, who was captured and tried to reason with his people, was killed by his fellow Aztecs.[1]
Giovanni, who had managed to retrieve the Crystal Skull from an Aztec priest, managed to escape from Tenochtitlan with some of Hernán's crew, and returned to Spain.[1]
Modern day
Present-day Mexico City is built upon the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the foundations of which were laid in 1521, shortly after the fall of the original city.[2]
In 2016, when the former-Abstergo Industries employee Sebastian Monroe was explaining the whereabouts of a prong from the Trident of Eden to the teenagers; Owen Meyers, Javier Mondragón, David and Grace Collins, and Natalya Aliyev, he mentioned Hernán's conquer of Tenochtitlan and the eventual formation of the Aztec Club.[3]
